      Lorni's Unique Approach

I promise to always respect your child’s individuality and personal integrity. Acceptance of a child is a prerequisite to change. Therapy is structured around the child’s strengths, interests, and rhythms.  It involves developing a relationship, finding ways to communicate, observing needs, and listening to what is being communicated both verbally and nonverbally.

WHAT I Do

Healthy Baby Sessions:  Learn more about your infant’s development, tune into your baby more fully, and strengthen your baby’s early attachment.

Baby-Parent Play Groups:  Meet other parents and babies, and witness the developmental learning process as it unfolds through engaged play and communication.

Baby Therapy and Consulting Sessions:  Learn to better facilitate your baby’s comfort and support their growth and development through careful observation and attentive touch.

Adopted Children Therapy:  Strengthen your adopted child’s attachment to you.

Sensory Issues, Behavioral Challenges, or Developmental Delays Therapy: Developmental Movement Therapy can help: babies who are delayed in meeting developmental benchmarks like lifting their head, rolling over, or crawling; children who are over- or under- reactive to particular sensations (like clothing, sound, temperature, and pain); children who are easily over-stimulated, need to move non-stop, or seem slow to pick up on certain motor skills.

WHO IT'S FOR

Developmental Movement Therapy is helpful for children impacted by trauma, prone to dysregulation, hyper-vigilance, aggression, or controlling behaviors.

Developmental Movement Therapy works with body sensation and movement as well as playful interactions to increase attunement, improve regulation, develop trust, and help children integrate difficult memories and experiences stored in their body.

Developmental Movement Therapy will guide you and your child through movements, interactions, and sensory experiences that will help your child’s nervous system release limiting habits and develop new, more functional patterns. It offers opportunities for play and interaction that are responsive, connecting, and fun!
